This standard stipulates pass/fail criteria that address biodegradability, degradation during biological treatment, impact on the biological treatment process, and impact on the quality of the home compost obtained.
In terms of biodegradability assessment, the test method refers to ISO 14855, a method for determining the ultimate aerobic biodegradability of plastic materials under controlled composting conditions based on evolving carbon dioxide analysis. Either ISO 14851 or ISO 14852 will be used as alternative methods.
