EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN IEC 61238-1-2 standard. This part of EN IEC 61238 applies, for example, to insulation-piercing connectors for power cables with rated voltages up to 603 kV (Um = 1 kV) according to HD 1,2, or to other buried cables and cables laid in buildings.
This standard does not apply to connectors for overhead line conductors or to sliding contact connectors. The purpose of this standard is to define type testing methods and requirements applicable to insulation piercing connectors for power cables with copper or aluminum conductors. The reference method is to conduct tests on unused insulated conductors.
This standard does not invalidate existing approvals of products or demonstration of satisfactory service performance based on national standards and specifications. However, products approved to such national standards or specifications cannot directly seek approval for that standard.
