The building material consists of vegetal fibers with or without a binder, supplied as loose-filled vegetal fibers formed in situ for manual or mechanical installation, hereinafter referred to as the thermal insulation product.
Any vegetable fiber, eg. Grass, flax, hemp, jute/sisal, paper, recycled paper, cotton fibers or untreated chipped wood are covered by this EAD. The type of vegetable fibers will be specified in the ETA.
It is the manufacturer's responsibility to take appropriate precautions regarding product packaging, transportation, storage, maintenance, replacement and repair, and to advise customers on product transportation, storage, maintenance, replacement and repair as it deems necessary.
It is assumed that the product will be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions or the usual practice of construction professionals. In order to determine the performance, the relevant manufacturer's provisions that affect the performance of the product covered by this European assessment document are taken into account and detailed in the ETA.
It is a heat or sound insulation product provided as a loose fill for manual or mechanical installation, used in roof, wall and floor cavities, between rafters and woodwork.
Evaluation of the insulation product will only be in structures where the product will not be exposed to pressure loads, precipitation, wetting or weather conditions, and in structural elements that are not in contact with water and soil, or the critical moisture content will be exceeded.
In thermal insulation products containing sodium tetraborate, boric acid or disodium octaborate tetrahydrate, the thermal insulation product is coated to avoid direct contact with the building user.
