EN 1081 Flexible, Laminate and Modular Multilayer Floor Coverings, Standard Test for Determination of Electrical Resistance

• Surface resistance after assembly or assembly of a flexible, laminate and modular multilayer floor covering on the test piece.

The tripod electrode may comprise a triangular aluminum sheet with an insulating layer on its upper surface and three cylindrical conductive rubber feet 180 mm apart on its lower side. The rubber feet shall have a hardness conforming to ISO 50 between 70 IRHD and 48 IRHD, and the electrical resistance of each rubber foot shall be less than 103 Ohm when tested between two metal surfaces.

The vertical resistance between a surface electrode and an electrode attached to the underside of a test piece is measured using a defined voltage and a resistance meter.

Take either three tiles from a pile or three test pieces with a minimum side length of 400 mm from a slab. Clean the test piece with cleaning fluid. Wait at least 30 minutes before taking the test.

Place the cleaned tripod electrode on the surface of the test piece and connect it to the resistance meter. Additionally, connect the base electrode to the resistance meter. Press the tripod electrode and turn on the voltage to apply a load that exerts a minimum force (F) of 300 N on the tripod.
