EN 12154 Standard Test for Curtain Walls, Waterproofing, Performance Requirements and Classification

This standard applies to curtain wall according to WI 00033238. For the purposes of this standard, the definitions given in EN 13119 apply. The test pressure is the differential pressure between the two faces of the test specimen, expressed in pascals.

When the outer face is subjected to higher pressure than the inner face, positive pressure, watertightness, ability of the curtain wall to resist water seepage, watertightness limit, the maximum test pressure at which the sample remains waterproof for the specified period apply.

It describes how to subject a curtain wall area installed in a building to a continuous film of water on its exterior and that doors and windows incorporated into the curtain wall can be similarly tested.

Water passage refers to the passage of water from outside to inside in the curtain wall system. A small amount of water that can be controlled indoors is acceptable. However, the main principle is to achieve perfect sealing on all curtain walls. In order to determine the ability of the building to withstand water penetration, a test is performed on the sample.
