This European standard applies to atmospheres with pressures ranging from 0,8 bar to 1,1 bar and temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C, i.e. equipment built according to this European standard is suitable for any service condition in it. will be satisfactory.
The requirements of this European standard can also assist in the design, construction, testing and marking of equipment intended for use in atmospheres outside the above-mentioned validity range. In this case, however, the ignition hazard assessment must clearly demonstrate and indicate the suitability of the equipment for the conditions that may be encountered by the ignition protection provided, additional tests (if necessary), the manufacturer's technical documentation and the instructions for the user. It should also be recognized that changes in temperature and pressure can have a significant effect on flammability.
This European standard does not cover additional marking for equipment intended for use outside the scope of its validity, such as an oxygen-enriched atmosphere.
This European standard also applies to the design, construction, testing and marking of components, protective systems, devices and assemblies of these products with potential ignition sources and intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
