EN 1492-2 Textile Straps - Safety - Part 2: Standard Test for Round Slings Made of Man-made Fibers for General Purpose Use

This European standard specifies safety-related requirements, including rating and test methods, for round hangers up to a working load limit of 40 tons (in straight lift) and for two, three and four-legged round suspension assemblies with or without fittings.

Round slings within the scope of this part of EN 1492 are designed for general purpose lifting operations; for example, when they are used to lift objects, materials or goods that require no deviation from specified requirements, safety factors or WLLs.

Lifting operations not covered by this standard include lifting persons, molten metal and acids, sheets of glass, fissile materials, nuclear reactors and, where special conditions apply, potentially hazardous materials.

Round hangers conforming to this European standard are suitable for use and storage in the following temperature ranges:

• Polyester and polyamide: -40°C to 100°C;
• Polypropylene: -40°C to 80°C.

Applies to the following types of round hangers:

• Round hangers designed for lashing or securing loads on pallets and platforms or on vehicles;
• Tubular webbing straps without padding.

This European standard addresses the technical requirements to minimize the hazards listed in clause 4 that may arise during the use of round slings when performed in accordance with the instructions and specifications given by the manufacturer or his authorized representative.
