EN 1519-1 Test of Plastic Piping Systems for Soil and Waste Discharge in Building Structure

This standard specifies requirements for solid wall polyethylene (PE) pipes with smooth inner and outer surfaces extruded from the same compound/formulation throughout the wall, fittings and system:

• Soil and waste disposal applications indoors (low and high temperature) buildings (application area code "B");
• Soil and waste discharge applications (low and high temperature) buried in the ground, both indoors and within the building structure (application area code "BD").

For buried use within a building structure, only components marked "BD" with a nominal ring stiffness of at least SN75 for dimensions greater than or equal to 4 mm are intended.

This standard also applies to PE pipes and fittings and system for the following purposes:

• Ventilation portion of piping in conjunction with evacuation applications;
• Rainwater pipes inside the building structure.

It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this standard. This standard covers a range of nominal sizes, a series of pipes and fittings, and gives color recommendations.

Applies to pipes and fittings marked with “B” intended for use inside buildings and outside of buildings fixed to the wall. It applies to pipes and fittings marked with “BD” that are intended to be used buried in the ground both inside the building and within the building structure.

This standard is applicable to the following types of PE pipes and fittings:

• flat tip;
• With integrated elastomeric o-ring socket;
• For butt fusion joints;
• For electrofusion joints;
• For mechanical connections where fittings can be injection molded or produced from pipes or molds.
