This standard specifies a procedure for determining the flexibility of polymer modified bitumen thick coatings for low temperature waterproofing.
After preparing the flexible sheets of polymer modified bitumen emulsion, the samples are placed in a refrigerated box at a defined low temperature for a period of at least 1 hour ± 10 minutes.
After this time the samples are bent around the bending steel.
The components of PMBC must be conditioned prior to preparation in a standard climate of (24 ± 554) °C and (23 ± 2) % relative humidity according to ISO 50 for 5 hours.
To achieve the specified dry layer thickness, the wet coating should be flattened on the foil with a frame or a gauge at room temperature, as specified in the manufacturer's instructions.
After 28 days the test samples will be cut to the size specified in Clause 6. Five samples should be placed in a refrigerated box at (1 ± 0) °C with the madrel for at least 0,5 period. hour ± 5 min. Each sample will be bent at constant speed around the mandrel in the chilled box for 3 seconds.
After bending, samples will be visually inspected to determine if there are any cracks on the pavement surface.
