EN IEC 61238-1-3 Standard Test for Power Cables, Compression and Mechanical Connectors

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN IEC 61238-1-3 standard. This part of EN IEC 61238 applies to compression and mechanical connectors for power cables up to 1 kV (Um = 1,2 kV) for rated voltages above 36 kV (Um = 42 kV).

This standard does not apply to connectors for overhead line conductors or to sliding contact connectors. The purpose of this standard is to define type testing methods and requirements applied to compression and mechanical connectors for power cables with copper or aluminum conductors. The reference method is to conduct tests on unused conductors.

This standard does not invalidate existing approvals of products or demonstration of satisfactory service performance based on national standards and specifications. However, products approved to such national standards or specifications cannot directly seek approval for that standard.

Once successfully completed, these tests are not repeated unless changes are made to the material, manufacturing process, and design that could adversely change connector performance characteristics.
