This part of EN ISO 10545 provides a sampling inspection system with a double sampling plan, partly for the inspection method by attributes (individual values) and partly for an inspection method by average values (variables).
An inspection lot may consist of one or more homogeneous shipments or sub-shipments. Any non-homogeneous shipment will be divided into sub-shipments that are assumed to be homogeneous and may later form an inspection lot. If the non-homogeneity is not related to the properties to be tested, the shipment may be considered homogeneous by agreement between the supplier and the consumer.
For example, a consignment of the same type of tiles with different glazes may be homogeneous in terms of dimensions and water absorption, and not homogeneous in terms of surface quality. Likewise, accessories that differ only in shape from the tiles remaining in the sample can be considered homogeneous in terms of other properties.
One or more representatives of the interested parties may be present when sampling. Random samples will be taken from the inspection lot. Two samples will be taken. It may not be necessary to test the second sample. Each sample will be individually packaged and sealed and marked as agreed by the parties concerned.
The selection of features to be considered for inspection will be subject to agreement between supplier and consumer and may depend on the size of the inspection lot. The number of inspection lots to be drawn for testing will be subject to agreement between the parties concerned.
