EN ISO 13934-1 specifies a procedure for determining the maximum strength and elongation at maximum strength of textile fabrics using a strip method.
The method is mainly applicable to woven textile fabrics, including fabrics that exhibit stretch properties imparted by the presence of an elastomeric fiber, mechanical or chemical treatment. It can be applied to fabrics produced by other techniques. It cannot normally be applied to geotextiles, non-woven fabrics, coated fabrics, textile-glass woven fabrics and fabrics made from carbon fibers or polyolefin tape yarns.
The method specifies the determination of the elongation at maximum force and maximum force of test specimens in equilibrium with the standard atmosphere for testing and test specimens in the wet state.
The method is limited to the use of constant elongation rate (CRE) testing machines.
This part of EN ISO 13934 deals mainly with tensile testing machines, e.g. tensile properties, seam tensile properties, tear properties, seam slippage. Procedure for these standards is adopted where appropriate. Results obtained with one method should not be compared with results obtained with other methods.
