This International standard was developed in response to a worldwide demand. The tests are designed to ensure the strength and durability of the individual parts and the bike as a whole, demanding high quality throughout and consideration of safety aspects from the design stage.
In general, for static, impact and fatigue tests, each test should be performed on a new test specimen, but if only one specimen is available, it is permissible to perform all of these tests on the same specimen in the test order.
When more than one test is performed on the same sample, the test sequence should be clearly recorded in the test report or test record. It should be noted that if more than one test is performed on the same sample, previous tests may affect the results of subsequent tests. Also, if a sample fails multiple tests, it is not possible to make a direct comparison with the single test.
While force is maintained, manually rotate the wheel in the forward direction of the bike and determine whether the front fender rolls against the wheel and whether any damage to the front fender adversely affects the wheel rotation (locking). Contact between tire and fender is allowed.
