The environmental conditions specified in this standard are the conditions to which the product may be exposed during transport and handling. If the product is packaged, environmental conditions apply to the packaging in which the product is located. If the product is unpackaged, environmental conditions apply for the product.
A product may be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions throughout its lifetime. These conditions are divided into classes described in IEC EN 60721-3-0. The given classes can be used to define the maximum short-term environmental stresses on a product. However, they do not provide information regarding the long-term or total lifetime environmental stresses a product may experience. This means that no assessment of reliability or lifespan is possible based on these classes alone.
