The odor characteristics covered in this part of ISO 16000 are acceptability, perceived intensity, and hedonic tone. Depending on the measuring task, these odor characteristics or a combination of them can be determined.
A facility designed and operated to detect odors emitted from building products and materials consists of an emissions test chamber containing the test sample. The emission test room must contain a fresh air generation and humidification system, an air mixing system and monitoring and control systems to ensure that the test is performed according to ISO 16000-9 as well as the conditions specified in EN 16516.
