ISO 2685 Aircraft - Environmental Test Procedure for Airborne Equipment - Fire Resistance in Designated Fire Zones

This International Standard specifies test conditions applied to all components, equipment and structures located in designated "fire zones" and constructed to meet the specified minimum level of fire resistance.

ISO 2685 Aircraft - Environmental Test Procedure for Airborne Equipment - Fire Resistance in Designated Fire Zones

Two degrees of fire resistance can be applied to components, equipment and structures. Appendices A and B provide details on the types of burners that provide the standard flame and how to use them.

This International Standard is not concerned with fire resistance, flammability requirements or conditions caused by flame from the combustion chamber outside of designated fire zones.

The component, equipment or structure shall be installed on a test rig as defined in the specification for that equipment, in conditions at least equivalent to those encountered on board the aircraft. As acceptance conditions, the part must be able to withstand the fire test corresponding to the appropriate requirements or detailed specifications.

Air and gas are supplied and mixed in a small chamber. From this chamber, the mixed gas and air enter a larger plenum chamber before reaching the flame head.
