ISO 3341 Standard Test for Determination of Textile Glass, Yarns, Force at Break and Elongation at Break

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 3341 standard. This International Standard specifies a method for determining the elongation at break and tensile breaking force of glass yarns taken from packages.

The method is applicable to various types of glass yarns (single, plied, cabled, strips, untwisted structures, rovings, etc.). It is mainly designed for single, plied and cabled glass yarns with a diameter of less than 2 mm from packages or a linear density of less than 2000 tex. Heavier yarns may also be tested, provided that the test conditions are acceptable to all interested parties.

The method is not applicable to glass yarns that have elongated more than 5% at equilibrium with the standard atmosphere and under a pretension of 0,5 mN/tex.

Such yarns can be tested using a lower bias tension (eg 2,5 mN/tex or 1 mN/tex) acceptable to all interested parties. This mainly occurs when dealing with staple fiber yarns.
