The test should be performed on a predetermined number of containers. Containers used for testing should not be subjected to any other mechanical or thermal testing that could affect their internal pressure resistance.

This standard covers two test methods for determining the internal pressure resistance of glass containers, Method A by applying a uniform internal pressure for a predetermined period of time, and Method B by applying the internal pressure increasing at a predetermined constant rate.

Where possible, it is recommended that the temperature difference between the container and the water be within ± 5°C to avoid the possibility of additional stress to the container prior to testing.
