ANSI specifications divide mortars into five categories: A118.6 cement mortars, A118.7 polymer modified cement mortars, A118.3 epoxy mortars, A118.5 furan mortars, and A118.8 modified epoxy emulsion mortars. The ANSI standard creates unique tests for each product type.

Epoxy resin grouts that meet ANSI A118.3 specifications differ from cementitious grouts under different ANSI standards. Epoxy grouts, by their nature, outperform cement-based grouts. If a spill occurs on an epoxy resin-based grout, there is virtually no absorption. Epoxy Resin grouts are also much stronger.
