This part of EN 12259 specifies the requirements, test methods, conformity assessment and marking of deluge alarm valves with a nominal size range of DN40 to DN250 intended for use in fire protection water spray systems.
This European Standard does not cover elastomeric sleeve type valves and does not contain requirements for the design, installation and maintenance of fire protection water spray systems. Auxiliary components and attachments of deluge alarm valves are not covered by this part of EN 12259, with the exception of automatic relief valves.
The supplier must provide performance details, which should include the deluge alarm valve actuator operating pressure and K factors. For deluge alarm valves operated with a wet pilot line, details of the pilot line height restrictions above the deluge alarm valve shall be provided.
The radial clearance between the sealing device and the interior walls of the body (excluding movable latches and latch mechanisms), including the hinge projection areas, shall be not less than 12 mm in all positions except the fully open position.
