EN ISO 29463-4 High Efficiency Filters for the Removal of Airborne Particles - Test Method for Determining Leakage of Filter Elements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, offers precise and rapid testing services within the scope of EN ISO 29463-4 testing. EN ISO 29463-4 specifies the test procedure of the "scanning method", which is considered the reference method for determining the leakage of filter elements. Applies to filters in classes ISO 35 H to ISO 75 U. EN ISO 29463-4 also describes other normative methods.

EN ISO 29463-4 High Efficiency Filters for the Removal of Airborne Particles - Test Method for Determining Leakage of Filter Elements

EN ISO 29463 (all parts) establishes a procedure for determining the efficiency of all filters based on a particle counting method using a liquid (or alternatively solid) test aerosol and allows a standardized classification of these filters according to their properties.

Productivity, both local and general productivity; In fact, it covers most requirements of different applications. The difference between EN ISO 29463 (all parts) and other national standards lies in the technique used to determine the overall efficiency. Instead of mass relationships or total concentrations, this technique relies on particle counting at the most penetrating particle size (MPPS), which is typically in the range of 0,12 μm to 0,25 μm for microglass filter media. This method also allows testing of ultra-low penetration air filters, which was not possible due to insufficient sensitivity in previous testing methods.

For leak testing, the test filter is installed in the mount and subjected to a test airflow corresponding to the nominal airflow rate. After measuring the pressure difference at the nominal air flow volume flow rate, the filter is cleaned and the test aerosol produced by the aerosol generator is mixed with the prepared test air through a mixing channel, thus spreading it homogeneously across the cross section.

Production irregularities or leaks of the filter media lead to changes in the particle flow rate over the filter surface area. Additionally, leaks in the boundary zones and components of the test filter (sealant, filter frame, gasket of the filter mounting assembly) can lead to a local increase in the particle flow rate downstream of the test filter.
