EN 1365-4 Fire Resistance Tests for Load Bearing Elements, Part 4: Standard Test for Columns

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 1365-4 standard. This part of EN 1365 specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of columns when fully exposed to fire from all sides.

EN 1365-4 Fire Resistance Tests for Load Bearing Elements, Part 4: Standard Test for Columns

When a pin-joint condition is specified, this can be demonstrated by placing a spherical hinge or a cylindrical cylinder between one end of the column and the loading equipment. If a cylindrical roller is used, its axis will be parallel to the weak axis of the column.

The hinge should be mounted between two plates, one connected to the loading equipment and the other in contact with the column, to improve the load distribution over the column section.

Where fixed end conditions are specified, good contact shall be maintained between the load plates and the ends of the column and measures shall be taken to ensure full restraint throughout the entire test.
