DIN 53435 Testing Plastics - Bending Test and Impact Test on Dynstat Test Samples

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of DIN 53435 testing. This standard specifies two different test methods, dynamic impact bending test and (semi-)static bending test, as well as applied Dynstat test pieces and Dynstat Apparatus.

DIN 53435 Testing Plastics - Bending Test and Impact Test on Dynstat Test Samples

Impact testing according to this standard can be used to examine the behavior of Dynstat specimens under specified impact conditions and to evaluate the brittleness or toughness of plastics within the limits given by the test conditions. It can also be used to determine comparative data from similar material types.

The bending test according to this standard can be used to examine the behavior of Dynstat specimens at a given 4-point bending stress and to evaluate the strength or toughness of plastics under quasi-static test conditions, within the limits given by the test conditions. It can also be used to determine comparative data from similar material types.

Both tests are primarily used for quality control and comparison of plastics. When comparing test results, it must be ensured that the test conditions as well as the dimensions and pretreatment of the test specimens are compatible.

The tests are used to test Dynstat test specimens, which are usually prepared from molded parts (finished parts). Alternatively, Dynstat samples can be made directly from molding compounds. The values measured in Dynstat test specimens prepared from molds cannot simply be transferred to those in test specimens custom-made from molding compounds because the values depend on the shape of the molds and processing conditions.

The geometry of real plastic molded parts usually does not allow test samples with preferred dimensions according to DIN EN ISO 178 and DIN EN ISO 180 to be taken from them. On the other hand, it is often possible to extract significantly smaller and thinner Dynstat test samples. A special advantage of this standard is that it allows the impact and bending properties of plastics in molded parts to be tested in accordance with the standard in such cases.
