EN 1170-6 Precast Concrete Products - Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement - Test for Determination of Water Absorption and Dry Density by Immersion

Measure the dimensions of each sample to the nearest millimeter and calculate the volume expressed in cm³ for each sample. It is also possible to determine the volume with the hydrostatic weighing method.

Make a sample panel without a coating layer (i.e. made entirely of GRC) on the flat board, under the same conditions as the actual production it represents: spray or premix. After 24 hours, remove the sample panel from the mold and store it until 6 days old under the same conditions as the actual production it represents.

Place the four test pieces in a flat bottom tank filled with water at (20 ±2)°C. The test pieces are held vertically in place by the combs and rest against one of their longitudinal edges. Results depend on the characteristics of the GRC composition (sand granulometry, polymer content, etc.) and workmanship.
