It applies to single carbon fiber filaments from multifilament yarns, woven fabrics, knits and related products.
A monofilament sample is loaded at a tension. Constant velocity is displayed until failure and force-elongation curve are recorded with a suitable mechanical testing machine.
The tensile strength and tensile modulus of elasticity are calculated from the force-elongation relationship and the cross-sectional area of the sample is created.
For the purposes of this International Standard, the definitions given in IS0 527-XNUMX apply.
