The USP 671 container performance test provides standards for evaluating the functional properties of packaging systems used for solid oral dosage forms (SODFs) and liquid oral dosage forms (LODFs), although testing can be applied to packages for other dosage forms where appropriate.
The critical performance measures tested are water vapor transmission (permeability) and spectral transmission (light resistance), applicable if the container is intended to protect the contents from light.
