The sample is weighed and placed in a basket. A thermocouple is placed in the center of the sample and connected to the recording equipment. In addition to the sample thermocouple, there is also a thermocouple placed inside the furnace. The sample is lowered into the oven (set at 750°C) and remains in this position for the entire 20 minute test period.
This test identifies products that will not or will not contribute significantly to the fire, whatever their end use.
