This standard specifies additional safety requirements and test methods for seesaw and rocking equipment intended for fixed installation for use by children. It is intended to protect the user against possible dangers during use.
A load is applied to the worst-case equipment on the seat/stand, the angle of inclination is measured, and the ends of the equipment are checked for touching the ground.
The support components are loaded with a known force and the compression in the support components is measured. The equipment is moved to its extreme positions and the support components and the surrounding equipment are tested to determine if a 12 mm diameter rod can be inserted during movement.
Some equipment is supplied with supporting components designed to provide movement. Such equipment is characterized by different sizes and configurations and additional safety requirements not covered in this part of the EN 1176 series may need to be considered.
