Applying a constant and specific amount of water in a continuous film over the outer surface of the sample with increments of positive static test pressures applied at specified intervals, the test operator should note when and where any water leaks occur.
A chamber with an opening in which the test specimen can be placed shall have sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand the test pressures likely to be applied during the tests. It should not be bent under test pressure to any extent that would affect the performance of the test specimen. Adequate representative structural supports will be provided to which the sample will be attached in accordance with the conditions of use in the works.
The chamber should be constructed in such a way that at pressures up to the maximum test pressure, the air permeability through it does not exceed the permissible air permeability through the sample at the same pressure.
All parts of the specimen shall be full size using the same materials, details, construction and fixing methods intended for use in the works. Connection conditions to structural support should simulate conditions at works as accurately as possible.
