EN 14041 Flexible - Textile - Laminate and Modular Multilayer Floor Coverings - Standard Test for Basic Properties

• Resilient flooring, excluding loosely laid mats;
• Textile floor coverings, excluding free-laid (barrier) mats, runners and rugs;
• laminate floor coverings;
• Modular multi-layer floor coverings.

Such floor coverings may or may not be formulated to improve the performance of one or more key features. This type of floor covering is designed for internal use as a floor covering within a building according to the manufacturer's specifications.

For such floor coverings, this European standard specifies evaluation methods for determining the performance of key features, ways of expressing their performance, systems for evaluating and verifying the constancy of performance (AVCP) marking.

This standard does not specify requirements for floor coverings that are not related to the essential characteristics defined in Regulation (EU) No 305/2011. This standard does not cover the installation or maintenance of floor coverings.

For textile floor coverings, when a flame retardant is applied directly to the exposed use surface of a floor covering by spray, foam or other technology, the sample should undergo a laboratory cleaning procedure prior to testing.

If the sample is tested with a substrate without the use of an adhesive, the test result is valid for the floor covering tested under end-use conditions with and without adhesives. If the sample is tested on a non-fire retardant treated particleboard substrate, the test result for the floor covering under test also applies to the end-use conditions on the fiber cement board.
