The relevant cable standard should specify when the materials in the cable should be tested. A test piece should consist of (1000 ± 5) mg of the material to be tested from a representative sample. The test piece should be divided into several small pieces.

The apparatus used must be specified in EN 50267-1 with the following measuring instruments:

  • Analytical balance with ±0,1 mg accuracy;
  • pH meter with an accuracy of ±0,02, equipped with a suitable pH electrode;
  • Conductivity measuring device in the range of 10-2 µS/mm to 10² µS/mm and a suitable electrode;
  • Timer.
