EN 62552-1 Household Refrigeration Appliances, Specifications, Part 1: Standard Test for General Requirements

EN 62552-1 specifies the main characteristics of domestic refrigerating appliances cooled by internal natural convection or forced air circulation and specifies test methods for checking properties.

For declaration purposes, the tests described in this part of EN 62552 are considered type tests to evaluate the basic design and operation of a cooling device. This part of EN 62552 does not define production sampling or conformity assessment or certification requirements.

This part of EN 62552 does not define a regimen for confirmatory testing as it varies by region and country. Wherever the performance of a particular type of cooling device needs to be verified against this standard, it is preferred wherever possible. Tests can also be done individually to examine a particular feature.

EN 62552-1, -2 and -3 constitute a technical revision and include the following important technical changes according to EN 62552:

• All parts of the standard have been largely rewritten and updated to deal with new test requirements, new product configurations, the emergence of electronic product controls, and computer-based test room data acquisition and processing equipment;
• Part 1 (this part) has some changes to test room equipment specifications and test setup to provide additional flexibility, especially when testing multiple devices in a single test room.
