TS EN 71-7 Safety of Toys - Part 7: Finger Paints - Requirements and Test Methods

For example, prolonged skin contact or possible dye ingestion cannot be ruled out. Therefore, the safety requirements set out in other parts of EN 71 had to be extended for finger paints. To address the risks associated with the use of finger paints by children, this part of EN 71 contains requirements for other ingredients and impurities, specific migration requirements, as well as preservatives that may be used in the manufacture of finger paints.

The requirements of this standard apply to finger paints in the form used by the child. In the case of powder finger paints (e.g. water can be added before use), the requirements apply to finger paint prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Finger paints should not contain any hazardous substances or mixtures that may harm the health of children using them. Containers for finger paints are mixed with foodstuffs by consumers, especially children, and as a result, paint on their fingers or mouth, or absorb or swallow them.
