This standard specifies laboratory tests to measure the structural properties of falling object protection structures (FOPS) intended for use in hoist earthmoving machinery as defined and gives performance requirements in a representative test.
It applies both to FOPS supplied as an integral part of the machine and to those supplied separately for attachment to the machine.
This does not apply to compactors, excavators, rollers, trenchers, pipelayers, additional seat for operating an attachment (e.g. attachment excavator) or FOPS intended for use on machines with a power rating of less than 15 kW.
