EN ISO 9073-13 specifies a test method for measuring the impact time (STT) for each of three consecutive doses of liquid (simulated urine) applied to the surface of a test piece of nonwoven cover material. STT is defined as the time it takes for a known volume of liquid to pass through the nonwoven fabric in contact with the underlying dry standard absorbent pad.

This test method is for quality control purposes and is designed to compare STT for different nonwoven covers. It does not simulate the conditions of use for finished products.

Three subsequent doses of simulated urine are discharged at a predetermined rate and under certain conditions onto a piece of nonwoven fabric placed over a reference absorbent pad. The time it takes for each of the liquid doses to penetrate the nonwoven is measured electronically using conductometric sensing. The absorbent pad remains unchanged and wet between doses.

Place the strikethrough plate on the nonwoven with the center of the plate approximately above the center of the test piece. Center the funnel over the hole in the plate. When available, for the Lister device this corresponds to the position defined by the specified positioning pattern.
