ISO 3800-1 Threaded Fasteners - Axial Load Fatigue Test - Part 1: Test Methods

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 3800-1 testing. This International standard specifies requirements for performing axial load fatigue tests on threaded fasteners. IS0 3800 specifies methods for statistically determining fatigue strengths.

ISO 3800-1 Threaded Fasteners - Axial Load Fatigue Test - Part 1: Test Methods

The tests specified are of the alternating stress type as defined in ISO/R 373 and are performed at room temperature, in air, along the longitudinal axis of the applied loading fastener. These methods allow the fatigue strength of threaded fasteners in open joints (clamping parts not in contact) to be determined independently of their application.

Because test fixtures can introduce variables into results, minimum requirements are specified to mitigate their effects. Calibration and alignment control methods are included.

Tests are performed on threaded fasteners to determine fatigue properties such as those illustrated by the S/N curve (Wohler curve) described in ISO/R 373.

In general, the voltage amplitude as well as the low voltage are related to the fundamental small diameter field, but the average voltage is related to the rated voltage field. For the sake of uniformity and also for the possibility of comparison, the base small diameter area will be chosen for both the average stress and the stress amplitude.
