ISO 579 Coke - Standard Test for Determination of Total Moisture

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 579 testing. ISO 579 specifies a method for determining coke total moisture. It can be used for moisture determination of blast furnace coke, foundry coke and other high temperature carbonization products.

ISO 579 Coke - Standard Test for Determination of Total Moisture

A sample is heated in air at 120°C to 200°C and held at this temperature until it becomes constant in mass. The percent moisture is calculated from the loss in mass of the sample. Coke is not responsible for oxidation under the specified conditions.

Sample taken according to ISO 13909-6 and ISO 9411-2 for determination of total moisture should be stored in a sealed, airtight container. The entire sample is crushed to a nominal top size of 16 mm using a jaw crusher. It is obtained by dividing the laboratory sample from the broken material.

Samples that are visibly wet and are expected to exceed 15% moisture are partially dried before reduction and partitioning. This air drying procedure is described in ISO 13909-6. Air-drying of visibly wet samples should be done in the laboratory where residual moisture determination is made.
