TS 14237 Textiles Test Standard for Health and Social Service Facilities

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of TS 14237 test. This standard proposes specifications, test methods and minimum performance specifications for textiles not used in health and social service facilities (hospitals, residential care homes, etc.) to provide guidance on the suitability of products intended to be preserved by industrial washing.

TS 14237 Textiles Test Standard for Health and Social Service Facilities

This standard does not apply to surgical textiles under the Medical Devices Directive or protective clothing under the PPE Directive.

This standard provides minimum requirements for the purchase of unused textiles for health and social service facilities. It aims to assist health and social service organizations in choosing textile products produced from these textiles that they intend to preserve through industrial washing.

It is recognized that textile materials that exceed these minimum specifications in this standard are currently available and cannot provide information to relate these minimum properties to textile life and value in typical industrial processing. Also, these minimum specifications cannot be correlated with textile life as a measurement in industrial laundry use trials.

As a result, buyers are strongly encouraged to discuss the quality of materials and expected performance requirements with any prospective laundry company before making a purchase. In addition, according to EN 14065, there is a need for the safety of patients and customers, which must be ensured by hygienic cleaning that cannot be achieved with domestic washing.

Production technologies in laundries require high performance properties in textiles to ensure adequate durability, which can increase purchasing costs. It is therefore encouraged to conduct some trial runs in the prospective laundry to better assess the textile life and life cycle cost.
