TSE K 561 Plastic Butterfly Security Seals - Made of Polycarbonate (PC)

The TSE K 561 standard published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) describes the requirements for plastic butterfly security seals made of polycarbonate (PC). In general, security seals are used to seal electricity, natural gas and water meters and in situations where some materials must be locked and kept under control during transportation or storage. It is also used to determine whether these have been opened by unauthorized persons.

Plastic butterfly security seals have a unique locking mechanism where the female part is provided with an all-round collar to maintain the locking pattern. Once the seal is locked, the spacer is completely swallowed by the capsule, leaving no attempt to reach the locking mechanism to tamper with this seal.

The spacer of the plastic butterfly security seal is designed to effectively lock the capsule by inserting it from any direction. Thanks to the double-sided locking mechanism, the insertion of the spacer into the capsule is not limited to a certain direction.

Plastic butterfly security seals are designed in such a way that at the slightest attempt to tamper with the mechanism to open the seal, the head of the spacer will break or the capsule of the seal will be vertically separated from one or both sides, thus damaging the seal and rendering it unusable.

Polycarbonates (PC) are a group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structure. The main advantages of polycarbonates are: fire and vandal resistance, insulating power, light weight and easy processing. On the other hand, its main disadvantages are that it is susceptible to scratches and easily expandable.

Polycarbonate is fire resistant and has a B1 fire rating. This material does not burn with an open flame, in fact it is self-extinguishing. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable and vandal resistant. This feature makes this material the ideal material for safety glass, machinery and technical products.

Polycarbonate is also ideal for sustainability. It has a long service life and is fully recyclable.
