EN 15372 Furniture - Durability, Solidity and Safety - Requirements for Non-Domestic Tables

The European standard "EN 15372 Furniture - Durability, durability and security - Requirements for non-domestic tables" describes the requirements for the safety, stability and durability of all types of non-domestic tables, including those with glass in their structure.

EN 15372 Furniture - Durability, Solidity and Safety - Requirements for Non-Domestic Tables

This standard does not apply to office desks or desks, educational institution desks and outdoor desks for which other European standards exist.

Other than stability tests, this standard does not provide for an assessment of the suitability of any storage features in domestic desks. Requirements regarding the durability of wheels and height adjustment mechanisms are also outside the scope of this standard. Additionally, this standard does not cover electrical safety requirements and requirements for resistance to aging and deterioration.

The EN 15372 standard has two important annexes:

  • Annex A (informational) contains additional testing requirements
  • Annex B (informative) deals with the severity of the test according to the application

The EN 15372 standard covers a number of aspects related to outdoor desks, including:

  • Structural integrity: This standard specifies requirements for the strength and stability of desks, ensuring they can withstand expected loads and use in non-domestic environments.
  • Durability: Desks are evaluated for their resistance to abrasion, impact, and other types of physical stress that may occur in commercial environments. This includes evaluating the durability of materials, coatings and components.
  • Safety: This standard addresses safety issues such as preventing injuries related to sharp edges, corners or protruding parts. It also includes stability requirements, especially for tables that may be subject to tipping.
  • Functionality and performance: This standard evaluates various functional aspects of non-home desks, including dimensions, height adjustability, ease of assembly, and the functionality of additional features such as cable management systems.
  • Test Methods: This standard provides specific test methods to evaluate compliance with the requirements of the standard. These tests include static or dynamic load testing, impact resistance testing and other relevant evaluations.

Compliance with the EN 15372 standard is optional, but gives manufacturers, buyers and out-of-home desk users confidence in the quality and performance of the products. This standard helps ensure that desks used in commercial or public environments meet certain minimum requirements for safety, durability and functionality.

Non-domestic desks that are tested and certified to comply with the EN 15372 standard are desks that have been proven to pass the relevant tests and meet the criteria established for use in commercial environments. Manufacturers use certification or labeling opportunities to demonstrate compliance with standards.
