NFPA 267 Test for Bed and Bedding Exposed to Flame Ignition Source

Using this standard, open calorimeter environment, this test method is used to determine heat release, smoke density, weight loss, and carbon monoxide generation of mattresses and bedding.

This procedure will allow full size samples to be exposed to a standard flame ignition source in an open calorimeter setting.

The standard ignition source will be a gas burner.

Determinations will be made and recorded for parameters including smoke density, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide concentrations, weight loss, heat release rate and total heat release.

The NFPA Board of Directors has approved a comprehensive set of revisions to the NFPA Regulations Steering Committee Projects, the regulations that govern NFPA's standards development process. The new regulations are called "Regulations for the Development of NFPA Standards". These new regulations, which include changes to some familiar terms and add some new terms, will apply to standard reporting in the Fall 2013 Revision Cycle and all subsequent revision cycles. Standards reporting up to this period, including the annual 2013 cycle, will apply in the Current Regulations. During the transition period, the development of NFPA standards will be carried out under two sets of Regulations.
