EN 1364-3 Fire Resistance Tests for Non-Structural Elements - Part 3: Curtain Wall - Standard Test for Full Configuration

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 1364-3 testing. This European standard specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of a full-configuration curtain wall. This European standard is used in conjunction with EN 1363-1.

EN 1364-3 Fire Resistance Tests for Non-Structural Elements - Part 3: Curtain Wall - Standard Test for Full Configuration

The test method is applicable to type B curtain wall. The test is not suitable for testing type A curtain wall.

The fire resistance of the curtain wall can be determined under indoor or outdoor exposure conditions. In the latter case, the external fire exposure curve given in EN 1363-2 can be used, subject to changing national regulations.

Tests can be carried out on individual parts of the curtain wall (e.g. perimeter gasket, infill panel or fastening (anchor) of the frame system used to attach the curtain wall to the floor element) or on systems with fire resistance requirements for the beam area only.

There must be a gap of at least 50 mm between the bottom edge of the test specimen and anything below that can support the test specimen. For internal exposure, the test specimen shall include the cladding wall, the perimeter seal and, if necessary, the vertical linear gap seal.

The test specimen for external exposure includes the curtain wall only. Support slabs, perimeter seal, and vertical linear gap seal can be omitted.

In the case of using mineral wool as the filling material, variations of mineral wool are that the length of the gasket with a given filling material is the same as the minimum distance between the two uprights, and the joint is not located between different filling materials in the middle registration area.

The test construction for internal exposure should include the test sample plus two supporting floors and two associated walls. If a vertical linear gap seal is included in the test sample, a simulated wall is used instead of an associated wall.
