This European standard provides for the evaluation of the verification of consistency of performance (AVCP) of point smoke detectors according to this EN.

For other types of smoke detectors or smoke detectors operating on different principles, this standard should be used for guidance only. Smoke detectors with special features and developed for certain risks are not covered by this standard.

Some types of detectors contain radioactive materials. National requirements for radiation protection differ from country to country and are not specified in this standard.
