TS 3078-2 Sealing Gaskets Used as Waterstop in Joints in Concrete Structures - Thermoplastic - Part 2: Material Requirements and Tests

In the TS 3078-2 standard published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), the material requirements of thermoplastic waterstop gaskets applied to constructions in order to provide watertightness to the joints formed by itself or designed by design in concrete structures are explained and inspection and test methods are defined.

During the preparation of this standard, the following standard developed by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) was taken into account: DIN 18541-2 Thermoplastic waterstops for sealing joints in concrete - Part 2: Material requirements, testing and inspection. This standard applies to material requirements. This standard does not apply to: function, design principles and requirements for the selection of water rods, joint tapes for sealing joints, joint tapes for fixing and sealing surface gaskets made of plastic insulating membranes, and joint tapes for working with water pollutants.

While preparing the TS 3078-2 standard, the Construction Materials Regulation (2013/305/EU) published in 2011 was also taken into consideration. This legal regulation includes the performance declarations related to the basic characteristics of construction materials, the rules for affixing the CE marking to the materials, and the principles for putting the construction materials on the market and making them available on the market.

The main characteristics that make thermoplastics a suitable replacement material are:

• Thermoplastic pipes usually have a small diameter ranging from 0,5 cm to 41 cm and are often used for water pipes in residential and commercial buildings.
