UL 73 Standard Test for Safety Motorized Devices

These requirements do not cover devices rated higher than 600 V; They also do not cover devices containing universal motors rated higher than 250 V.

These requirements do not cover equipment intended specifically for the control of electric motors; splitter motors; electric clocks, fans, tumble dryers, washing machines, hair dryers, tools, garbage disposals, dishwashers, office appliances and work equipment, refrigerators, air conditioners, vending and entertainment machines, hair clippers and shavers, snow machines, automotive and garage equipment or other motorized devices covered by individual requirements.

A device that uses another energy source, such as gas or steam, in addition to electrical energy, will be examined under these requirements and any such additional requirements applicable to the device in question.

A product containing new or different features, qualities, components, materials or systems from those covered by the requirements of this standard and presenting a risk of fire, electric shock or personal injury should be evaluated using the appropriate additional component.
