EN 60335-2-29 Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, Safety, Part 2-29: Standard Test for Battery Chargers

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 60335-2-29 standard. Covers the safety of electric battery chargers for domestic use with a rated voltage of not more than 250 V and output at safety extra-low voltage.

This standard covers battery chargers that are not intended for normal household use, such as battery chargers for use in garages, shops, light industry and farms, but which may still pose a hazard to the public.

This standard addresses the common hazards posed by appliances faced by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, persons (including children) with physical, sensory or mental abilities; or lack of experience and knowledge prevent them from using the device safely without supervision or instruction.

This standard does not apply to built-ins:

• Battery chargers, except for installation on caravans and similar vehicles;
• Battery chargers that are part of a device and whose battery is not user-accessible;
• Battery chargers designed for industrial purposes only;
• Battery chargers intended for use where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapor or gas);
• Battery chargers for emergency lighting or supply units for electronic equipment.
