EN 12390-6 Testing of Hardened Concrete, Part 6: Standard Test for Tensile Splitting Strength of Test Samples

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12390-6 standard. This European standard specifies a method for determining the tensile split strength of cylindrical test specimens of hardened concrete.

EN 12390-6 Testing of Hardened Concrete, Part 6: Standard Test for Tensile Splitting Strength of Test Samples

As a result of these results from the laboratory program, this standard limits the measurement of tensile split strength for cylindrical samples used with the reference method, chipboard packaging strips.

However, their use has been retained in a normative appendix, as some countries still test cubic or prismatic specimens. The reference method in case of disagreement is the use of rollers with a diameter of 150 mm and a length of 300 mm.

A cylindrical sample is subjected to a compressive force applied to a narrow region along its length. The resulting orthogonal tensile force causes the specimen to fail in tension.

EUROLAB assists manufacturers with EN 12390-6 test compliance.
