EN 1364-2 Fire Resistance Tests for Non-Structural Elements - Part 2: Standard Test for Ceilings

EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 1364-2 testing. This part of EN 1364 specifies a method for the determination of the fire resistance of ceilings that have fire resistance in themselves independently of any structural elements above them. This European Standard is used in conjunction with EN 1363-1.

EN 1364-2 Fire Resistance Tests for Non-Structural Elements - Part 2: Standard Test for Ceilings

The method can be applied to ceilings and self-supporting ceilings that are suspended with suspensions or fixed directly to a support frame or construction.

In this test method, the ceiling is exposed to fire and exposure; It is applied under the ceiling or above the ceiling to simulate a fire in the space above the ceiling.

The contribution to the fire resistance that a suspended ceiling can provide as a protective membrane to the load-bearing elements is determined using the procedure given in EN 13381-1. The fire resistance of load-bearing floors together with suspended ceilings can also be evaluated using tests according to EN 1365-2.

This European standard has been prepared to provide a test method for assessing the fire resistance of non-load-bearing ceilings. It can be applied to both bottom-fired and top-fired suspended ceilings as well as self-supporting ceilings.

This European standard does not apply to load bearing systems. The fire resistance of the load-bearing floors together with the suspended ceiling should be evaluated using EN 1365-2.

The test sample should accurately represent the ceiling for which it is intended to be used in practice. It will model the edges between the ceiling and the wall, the joints and joint materials to be used in the application. It will be designed to be mounted from the bottom only.

The test specimen should contain suitable fittings, which are an essential part of the ceiling and may affect its behavior in the test.
