EN 71-2 Safety of Toys - Flammability

EN 71-2 Safety of Toys - Flammability

This standard is used to determine the flammability of toys under specified test conditions. Test results obtained in this way cannot be considered as a general indication of the potential fire hazard of toys or materials when exposed to other sources of ignition.

This European Standard contains the general requirements for all toys and the specific requirements and test methods for the following toys considered to present the greatest hazard:

  • Head toys: beards, mustaches, wigs, etc. made of hair, lint or similar material. masks; titles, titles, etc.; Flowing elements of headwear toys, except for the kind of paper novelty hats usually provided at party crackers;
  • Toy disguises and toys intended to be worn by a playing child;
  • Toys intended to be entered by a child;
  • Soft stuffed toys.

Additional requirements for the flammability of electric toys are specified in EN 62115.
