This standard specifies the test method for determining the behavior of materials when exposed to surface flames, called the F method for short.
10 carp samples are produced or taken from the product to be tested. In anisotropic products, attention should be paid to the outlet direction. The samples are 230 mm long and 90 mm wide. The thickness depends on the specifications of the product in question or will be agreed upon. Test specimens whose non-melting point thickness deviates by more than ± 10% from the thickness of the old test specimens shall be used. If these allowable deviations are exceeded, this should be stated in the test report.
Before testing, samples are stored in the normal climate of DIN 50014 - 23/50-2. The storage time depends on the characteristics of the product to be tested or agreed upon. If these features are not available, the duration is at least 24 hours.
